About Me
My name is Abeer Abdo, I was born and raised in Amman, Jordan where I obtained my B.A in Psychology and M.A in Counseling and Guidance. I came to the United State in May of 1995 to the beautiful Washington D.C enjoying that busy culturally diverse area for around a 1 ½ year. During which I attended the Psychology studies at The Catholic University of America. During 1996 I was introduced to my major professor Dr. Jerry Fischer at the University of Idaho through a relative of mine. Dr. Fischer adapted me to his Ph.D Rehabilitation Counseling program and was my mentor and a great inspiration in my life. I graduated with my Ph.D in Counseling with an emphasis on Rehabilitation counseling. After graduation, I joint the Coeur d' Alene Tribe helping in establishing the Tribal's Rehabilitation program for around 8 months. During which I learned a lot about the tribal culture and enjoyed working with them.
After my 8 months with the tribe, the University of Idaho asked me to work with them on a pilot study investigating Medicaid spending on Developmental Disability population. This experience was very enriching to me and enlightening to the Disability population and what is required to meet their needs and help them live a graceful life.
Once this 8 months pilot study was over, I was recruited by Department of Social and Health Services of Washington State / Division of Vocational Rehabilitation where I worked with those wonderful people for around 5 years helping people with disabilities get new training and qualify for jobs that will suit their new abilities. With the change of administration at DVR WA, I decided that DVR was becoming too much of paper work for me and not much of practical help to our customers. The job stopped being fun and satisfactory for me. Therefore, I resigned my position and decided to work for myself instead. I went to work on building my “ Abeer Abdo” art and photography site. I moved to Coeur d' Alene, ID to enjoy this wonderful hidden secret of ID. Coeur d' Alene is will known to have a lot of Art Galleries and Artists that enjoy an atmosphere of encouragement and support. Therefore, I decided to make Coeur d' Alene area my home.
